DIY Post: Simple Lanterns

Lanterns_Post

1- Clip your wire into a circle and hot glue. Reinforce joint by wrapping with wire to make your circle extra secure. Note: each lantern requires 2 loops – 1 for top and 1 for bottom. (Our loop shown here is 10 inches in diameter)

2- Make a cross bar with your wire. This is only necessary for your lantern’s top loop, and is used for hanging.

3- You should now have 2 loops of the same size- 1 with a cross bar and 1 without

4- Hot glue your top loop about 1/2 inch or so from the edge of your paper making a 3D shape. Do the same with your bottom loop on the bottom edge of your paper.

5- You should now have a tube like shape. Use your hot glue to seal the seam down the side of your tube.

6- Voila! You’ve got a lantern. Hang with fishing line for a floating effect & cluster different sizes and width lanterns to create a focal point!

We loved the effect of these lanterns for a pop of color and whimsy this season and we hope you do too! Try them out and send us your pics at info@libbystory.com – we’d love to see ‘em!

Gift Guide for Your Guy: The Designer

As a designer I know buying gifts for a designer can be tricky sometimes. Designers, by trade are connoisseurs of the art, music, fashion and culture around them. We continually test the new gadgets, trends and equipment, finding exactly what we like and what works for us. So knowing what your designer uses can be key to buying them gifts they’ll enjoy and use this holiday season.
For example, I am in constant need of liner brushes, bottles of ink, Micron pens of all sizes, fine art papers, sketchbooks, and more. If you know what your designer guy uses on a daily basis, it makes for some cheap and easy gifts.
1. Specific Supplies (Nearest Art Supply Store) [$2-$20]
Remember that designers always need inspiration so magazine subscriptions, art books, design books and art prints are always good purchases. Here’s a selection of gifts that will inspire your designer guy.
