Feature Post: Jet Set Tables!

One of the things we have been working on here at Libby Story for the New Year is creating not only one of a kind furniture pieces, but also a number of furniture designs that will be released as part of our original furniture line. That means these pieces, while still individually unique and handmade, will be part of a series produced in our shop in multiples and sold in our stores in various colors, sizes, etc. Watch out 2013…
As part of that plan we are proud to introduce to you one of our first series designs …
The Jet Set Table Series

These tables are each made from vintage suitcases, seated on a frame work of salvaged wood. The design blends the sleek modern look of the squared legs along with the rustic textures from the salvaged wood and a vintage kick added by the classic look of the suitcase.
These tables are perfect for sofa end tables or bedside use. Lightweight and sturdy, you can stick one of these in the corner as the perfect table for a vintage lamp or slide it in and out of place as you need a tv tray, small writing surface… whatever you want.
Some of you guys may have seen these on our Facebook or Instagram, and there are now two different sets available in our Ridgeland store. More Jet Sets and original furniture to come!

Also make sure you check out the recent vintage and antique furniture pieces and handmade chalkboards we have gotten in lately (some shown below)

DIY Post: Beach Stone Necklace

One of my favorite pastimes in summer is talking walks along Lake Erie.  Whether with friends, family or on my own, I get wrapped up in the beauty of the water and the items it washes ashore.  From beach glass to special rocks, I’m always picking things up and taking them home with me.  The beach glass sits in a mason jar in my kitchen and the rocks often find themselves in my flower pots.

On a recent trip to Fairport Harbor with my family, I picked up these pretty stones and couldn’t wait to do something special with them.  Here is a little how to for displaying your pretty beach finds.

Supplies:
Jewelry Craft Pliers
Multi-use Wire Snips
Craft Wire
Premade Necklace Chain – try Etsy Supplies or your local craft store
Findings – Jump Rings
Pretty Stones
Cut an 8 inch piece of wire and make a small loop.

STEP ONE:
Twist about three times giving the loop a tail.  This will add strength and stability to the loop.

STEP TWO:
Determine which side of the stone you want to have in the front and place that wire loop in the back.

STEP THREE:
Wrap the wire around the stone as tight as possible, crossing the two tails over one another and adding a dab of super glue for extra security.  Once your stone is secure, snip any excess wire.

FINAL PRODUCT:
Add the beach stone charm to the necklace chain using a jump ring and Voila!  A pretty, and natural, necklace to wear all summer long

Special thanks to my friend Adam Taseff (www.twitter.com/arterxcreative) for taking these pretty photos!

xoxo, Shelley
